Relevance to the EU societal objectives

To improve human health, scientific discoveries must be translated into practical applications. Discoveries typically begin at “the bench” with basic research – in which scientists study disease at a molecular or cellular level – then progress to the clinical level, or the patient’s “bedside.”
The AAVEYE project is an example of this type of research: the results obtained by this proposal could have an immediate impact on patient health, by using the preclinical data obtained in the animal models as starting point for the development of clinical trials.
Moreover, the Partners have close collaborations with patient organizations, which will allow the consortium to rapidly disseminate results, raise awareness of the state of art of new therapeutic approaches and recruit new patients for molecular analysis and future clinical trials.
